About the Tour
Join a Carbfix group tour for an in-depth introduction to how CO₂ can be permanently stored through natural mineralization. Carbfix offers a pioneering solution that transforms captured carbon dioxide into stone in less than two years a method that has set a global benchmark for safe and permanent carbon storage.
This 1–1.5 hour guided experience combines the Geothermal Exhibition with a visit to a Carbfix injection site (weather and site conditions permitting), providing firsthand insight into how climate innovation is implemented at scale.
The tour is led by an experienced Science Communicator and includes:
A guided visit to a Carbfix injection well and the surrounding injection area, including ON Power's Geothermal Park
A guided visit to a Carbfix injection well and the surrounding injection area
An overview of the geothermal energy production and distribution at ON Power's Hellisheiði Geothermal Plant and its connection to carbon capture
A detailed explanation of the Carbfix carbon mineralization process — from capture to permanent storage in basalt rock
Participants are encouraged to ask questions and may further explore the exhibition afterward.
